FH UNNES Officially Launches ICCONSIST 2026: Driving Global Legal Transformation for Sustainable Development

SEMARANG, June 24, 2026 – The Faculty of Law, Universitas Negeri Semarang (FH UNNES), has officially commenced its highly anticipated annual academic hallmark, The 4th International Conference on Law, Conservation and Sustainable Development (ICCONSIST) 2026. Scheduled as a comprehensive two-day forum from Wednesday to Thursday, June 24–25, 2026, the prestigious global event is physically centered at the GSG Room, Dean's Office, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Law, UNNES.

This year’s conference is themed “Law in a Changing World: Advancing Sustainability, Justice, and Good Governance,” a timely title reflecting the urgent and critical role of legal frameworks in responding to rapid social, economic, technological, and environmental shifts across the globe. By establishing a prominent cross-border dialectic space, ICCONSIST 2026 aims to accelerate international research networks and foster impactful legal collaborations that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Rector of Universitas Negeri Semarang, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., officially inaugurated the conference. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that higher education institutions must act as strategic anchors in engineering innovative solutions for international challenges. Law, within this context, should not merely serve as static text but rather as a dynamic instrument capable of structuring global justice and institutional transparency.

Bridging Global Perspectives Across Seven Nations

To cultivate a rich, multifaceted academic discourse, ICCONSIST 2026 brings together an elite lineup of national and international legal scholars, policymakers, and practitioners from seven different countries. Delivering the cornerstone address, the Dean of the Faculty of Law UNNES, Prof. Dr. Ali Masyhar Mursyid, S.H., M.H., serves as the Keynote Speaker, framing the vital paradigm shift required to position law as a catalyst for social transformation and progressive governance.

The conference features eight distinguished invited speakers who will unravel critical sub-themes throughout the event:

  • Prof. Dr. Suhadi, S.H., M.H. and Prof. Dr. Martitah, M.Hum. representing the academic and judicial expertise of Indonesia.

  • Dr. Hajah Mas Nooraini binti Haji Mohiddin from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Brunei Darussalam.

  • Prof. Taih-Cherng Lirn from National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan.

  • Martin Stene representing the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), Denmark.

  • Dr. Bhanu Prakash Nunna from RV Vidyanikethan, India.

  • Debbie Gaile Jacinto Bolos, Ph.D. from the Prosecution Attorney Department of Justice, Philippines.

  • Prof. Frederik Euskirchen from Hochschule Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany.

These global experts are set to address interconnected, pressing thematic pillars, specifically targeting Law and Poverty Alleviation (SDG 1), Quality Legal Education for a Better Future (SDG 4), Gender Equality within Legal Systems (SDG 5), Peace, Justice, and Good Governance (SDG 16), as well as International Partnerships and Legal Collaboration (SDG 17).

A Vision for High-Impact Academic Outputs

Beyond serving as a platform for verbal dialogue, FH UNNES has meticulously designed ICCONSIST 2026 to generate high-impact scholarly outputs. In an explicit push toward elevating global academic visibility, selected papers presented at the conference will have the exclusive opportunity to undergo rigorous peer review for publication in various flagship Scopus-indexed journals managed by the Faculty of Law UNNES. These include highly ranked tier journals such as JILS (Scopus Q1), JLLR (Scopus Q1), CIILS (Scopus Q2), LSLR (Scopus Q2), alongside IJELSD (Scopus Q3), ISLR (Scopus Q3), IJCLS (Scopus Q3), ILDSA (Scopus Q4), IJALS (Scopus Q4), IJLCE (Scopus Q4), and ULJ (Scopus).

Expressing his profound expectations, the Dean of FH UNNES, Prof. Dr. Ali Masyhar Mursyid, S.H., M.H., stated that ICCONSIST 2026 represents a critical milestone in the faculty’s internationalization roadmap.

"We are entering an era where legal issues are no longer confined by national boundaries. Climate change, transnational corruption, and economic disparities require a united global legal response. ICCONSIST 2026 is our definitive answer. We expect this forum to foster solid international research clusters, trigger cross-border student-faculty exchanges, and ultimately present concrete legislative recommendations to stakeholders on a global scale," Prof. Ali Masyhar remarked.

With hundreds of researchers, graduate students, and legal practitioners participating both on-site and virtually, ICCONSIST 2026 solidifies FH UNNES’ stance as a world-class, conservation-oriented legal education hub that actively contributes to sustainable development, global justice, and the promotion of good governance for the benefit of society and the international community.
